Tortilis Camp Amboseli is widely regarded as a prime location for viewing the majesty of Africa's largest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro. The camp is named after the flat topped umbrella thorn tree the Acacia Tortilis, a sight synonymous with East Africa. Tortilis Camp has 16 tastefully decorated thatched en suite tents with private verandas, a swimming pool set amongst the trees and a spa offering relaxing massages. Set apart from the main camp, are two exclusive accommodations, a spacious en suite family tent and a private house, sharing a private swimming pool and stunning mountain views. The exquisitely built lounge, bar and dining area offer magnificent views of Kilimanjaro and the surrounding plains while you sip on a refreshing drink.
Amboseli is know for its magnificent elephants with over 1600 in the park's Eco system. It is home to several elephant families that have been closely followed and studied by world renowned researcher Cythia Moss for over 40 years. Tortilis guides know elephant families and their histories intimately. These are some of the biggest elephants in Africa as they have been protected for generations. Alongside its famous elephant population, Amboseli is also home to an abundance of other wildlife and fantastic bird life.
