Four Swimming Pool

Head out solo just off the beach, or book a guided trip to reach nearby reefs by boat. Whale Watching Cruise (July to October) If you time your holiday right, no visit to Pemba is complete without meeting the giants of the ocean, up close and personal.  Migrating from the Antarctic to breed in our tropical waters, humpback whales are a majestic sight as they arch over the waves and swim peacefully alongside.

Fishing Trips

PADI Discover Scuba Diving Course
An exciting introduction to the underwater world!  With no experience required, this beginner’s course includes basic instruction, a pool session and open water dive.  Making the experience even more worthwhile, it counts towards a dive certification.

  • Maximum depth: 10 metres

PADI Open Water Dive Course
For referral divers only, this course is available to those who have already completed the academic study and confined water session requirements.  Then when you get here you can focus on enjoying the underwater world, with just four open water dives needed to complete the course!

  • Minimum age: 10 years 
  • Maximum depth: 18 metres

Diving Trips
Pemba is a superb diving destination, with an incredible collection of unspoiled reefs, all in easy reach.   Escape into a mesmerising underwater world of boulders the size of houses, overhangs and caves, shallow wall dives and deep drop-offs.  Marvel at an extensive variety of hard and soft corals, fascinating marine plants, countless types of crustacean and fish, and even sea horses, dolphins and turtles.  Explore the treasures of the Indian Ocean as you glide through inviting temperatures between 26 and 30 degrees Celsius, guided by experts who know all the best spots!

Pemba Dive & Bush Camp
Set out on a great nature and wildlife escape at the eco-friendly Pemba Dive & Bush Camp Resort.  Go bird watching and keep your eyes peeled for the large split face bats that live here.  Explore the estate’s mangrove estuaries and towering baobab trees, for an impressive view of wild Africa. 

Nkwita Lake
Feel relaxed by the simple life in the great outdoors.  A one hour drive from Pemba, this wetland is home to waders, migratory birds and reed species that nest in the savannah bush.  Elegant raptors and storks also feed in the shallow water.  Rare kestrels and eagles soar the sky in hunt for prey.  Showing the most patience of all, local fishermen glide across the lake in hand carved canoes, then balance on a pole in the water to spear freshwater fish for supper.
